SHINee’s Onew Recalls When He Had Vocal Cord Surgery, “I Couldn’t Speak For 6 Months And Was So Lonely”
SHINee’s Onew met with TWICE’s Jeongyeon in her new YouTube content and talked about his slump in the past
On July 27th, the YouTube content hosted by TWICE’s Jeongyeon released a new episode featuring the guest appearance of SHINee’s Onew.
In the video, Onew took out a baseball glove and introduced it as one of the items he treasures. Onew shared, “This is the glove for pitchers. It was during 2010 or 2011. I got surgery on my vocal cord and couldn’t speak for six months. I bought this glove then. I only threw balls for six months without saying a word. Those periods of time, of nervous, loneliness, and hardships. I can say that this glove is a friend that helped me withstand that!”
Onew had to temporarily suspend his activities back in 2014 to undergo surgery for vocal cord polyp removal and vocal cord mucosa restoration. At that time, the male idol revealed that he even learned how to produce sounds from the beginning and worked very hard to rehabilitate after surgery.
