JYP Idols Have Renewed Contracts One After Another: From TWICE To Stray Kids
Following DAY6 and TWICE, Stray Kids has also renewed their exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment recently
On July 18th, JYP said, “All the members of Stray Kids, including Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N, have renewed their contracts ahead of the expiration early next year”, adding “Stray Kids, a group that has imprinted their unique music and powerful performances in the global music market, and JYP, the agency that has led the group and planned their growth well, decided to extend their contract with a vision for the future and based on their strong faith in each other”.
Stray Kids debuted in March 2018 with the track “District 9”. By filling their self-composed songs in every album, the group is famous for their producing talents. 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Chang Bin and Han) is the unit in charge of writing the lyrics and composing Stray Kids songs. The group gained huge love from global fans with addictive songs such as “Maniac”, “Thunderous”, “God’s Menu”, etc.
Stray Kids recently headlined various overseas festivals such as I-Days in Milan, British Summertime Hyde Park in London, and Lollapalooza Chicago in the US. The group will release their new mini album “Ate” on July 19th and begin a new world tour this August, starting with Seoul and then going to Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Kaohsiung, Tokyo, Manila, Macau, Osaka, Bangkok, etc.
Stray Kids is not the only group that extended their contracts with JYP.
Earlier in 2022, DAY6 also renewed their contract as a whole group. Announcing the news, JYP said, “We’ve completed renewing our contracts with all members and continue our meaningful companionship”.
DAY6 debuted in September 2015 with “Congratulations” and has been carrying out steady music activities. It is known that the group has written and composed all of their songs. Regarding their motivation to consistently make good music, member Wonpil once said, “We want to do music that doesn’t get old”. Especially, the song “You Were Beautiful” even succeeded in going backward on charts.
DAY6 recently performed at the KBO League All Star Game and impressed the public with their exciting performance.
TWICE also resigned their exclusive contracts as a whole group. Making their debut in October 2015 with “Like OOH-AHH”, all nine members of TWICE renewed their contracts in 2022.
Regarding the reason for TWICE’s successful contract renewal, member Nayeon shared, “I think all of us still think, ‘I want to do this with the members. I want to be TWICE’”. TWICE is still one of the top girl groups as they recently reached the top of Billboard 200 with their 13th mini-album “With YOU-th”. The group will perform at the halftime show of the first game of 2024 Coupang Play Series.
