BLACKPINK’s Lisa Silent on MV Plagiarism Controversy, “YG-Style Communication”?

Though BLACKPINK’s Lisa has departed from YG, she continues to practice its”‘YG-style communication”.

On July 16, BLACKPINK’s Lisa shared several photos of herself on Instagram, along with the caption, “A big heartfelt Thank You to everyone who attended the Rockstar pop-up event this past weekend in Seoul. I felt so much love from you guys and always thankful for the support. I can’t wait to show you more”

In the photos she posted, Lisa flaunted her slim figure in a chic outfit featuring a white crop top and black wide pants.

While Lisa’s beauty remains unchanged, netizens felt uneasy watching her seemingly cheerful update. Just recently, a plagiarism controversy surrounding Lisa’s “Rockstar” music video had erupted.

Particularly, photographer and video director Gabriel Moses claimed on his personal account that Lisa’s “Rockstar” MV, released on June 27, plagiarized Travis Scott’s music video for “FE!N”, a track from his fourth studio album released last July.

Moses stated that Lisa’s team reached out to his editor for work, using “FE!N”’ as a reference. The editor said no, but Lisa’s team “copied” the reference anyway.

Moses demanded an explanation from Lisa’s team by the end of the month. However, Lisa’s side has remained silent. This is not the first time Lisa has refrained from commenting on such controversies; she also stayed silent during previous allegations of plagiarism involving her music video outfit.

This selective communication has long been a hallmark of YG. Apart from sharing their desired stances, YG typically responds to other issues with “unable to confirm due to artist’s privacy” or “no comment”. Lisa seems to be continuing this YG-style communication.
