Netizens Defend BLACKPINK’s Jennie against Attitude Controversy with Interpreter

Recently, BLACKPINK’s Jennie came under fire for indoor smoking and blowing the smoke onto an employee’s face. The female idol eventually issued an official apology, but criticisms continue and past controversies are even being brought up.

Among the past controversies is an attitude allegation raised by a Chinese interpreter. In fact, a topic about this allegation on the Korean forum Pann Nate has attracted over 60,000 views.

In particular, the topic mentioned a past “review” made by a Chinese interpreter, who worked with BLACKPINK during an event. After the event concluded, the interpreter published a post on SNS, where they praised the attitude of all BLACKPINK members, except for Jennie. 

“Lisa has a good personality and is kind. Compared to that, Jennie is really…”, the interpreter wrote, painting Jennie’s personality in a negative light.

However, despite ongoing criticism, netizens came to Jennie’s defense against this past controversies and below are some of their comments: 

• There was a story about Jennie going to a farm and having a good personality. She was so humble and kind that the author thought she was just a pretty ordinary person, and was surprised to find out she was a famous person. So there’s no telling if the above story is real 
• Anyone can write something like this… It’s a bit much to believe something unconditionally when the authenticity is not even clear 
• Wow people are really trying to pull Jennie down…
