On July 8, HyunA’s agency, AT AREA, told Newsen regarding the October 11 wedding rumors with Yong Jun-hyung, “HyunA has found great comfort in Yong Jun-hyung during difficult moments, and they have promised to marry and share the fruits of their love.” This is the first official statement made five hours after the initial marriage report.
They added, “In October, they will hold a ceremony with close acquaintances and start a new life. We are grateful to everyone who has always supported them with warm eyes and ask for many blessings for HyunA, who has made a big decision, both as an artist and as a person.”
Thus, HyunA and Yong Jun-hyung have overcome the so-called Jung Joon-young scandal that broke out in March 2019 and have now achieved the fruition of their love.
Previously, Yong Jun-hyung was accused of receiving secretly-filmed videos of sexual encounters shot by his close friend, singer Jung Joon-young, in a one-on-one chatroom and had inappropriate conversations about them.
Yong Jun-hyung initially denied the allegations of receiving such videos from Jung Joon-young and hinted at legal action but reversed his stance three days later and apologized.
At that time, Yong Jun-hyung explained through his agency, “At the end of 2015, after drinking with Jung Joon-young, I found out about the illegal video filming through a one-on-one chat the next day, and after that, I saw the illegally shared video in a one-on-one chat and had inappropriate conversations about it.”
Although he has continued his activities by releasing solo albums and holding performances, public sentiment towards him remains unfavorable. After the BBC Korea documentary about the Burning Sun scandal was released on June 19, detailing the misdeeds of those involved in the Burning Sun scandal, including Jung Joon-young and former Big Bang member Seungri, Yong Jun-hyung, who received Jung Joon Young’s secret videos, and his girlfriend HyunA have also faced intense criticism.
In response to this, Yong Jun-hyung posted on his official account on June 12, saying, “I was certainly foolish and wrong at that time. I clicked on the video sent to me in a private message without any explanation and didn’t know what it was or the intent behind it until I watched it. Later, I could have said, ‘Stop it, this is wrong,’ but I wasn’t that kind of person and just let it pass.”
He added, “As I said before and have appealed afterward, I have never been involved in any group chat where those unspeakable things happened. I will continue to reflect deeply on the things I failed to correct in the past, my foolish actions and words, and strive to become a mature person every day.”
