On June 21st, SM Entertainment explained the situation, “On June 20th, Renjun mistakenly believed an unknown contact number was from a ‘sasaeng fan’ and exposed it on the fan communication platform.” The company added, “We sincerely apologize to the person affected by having their contact number publicly disclosed.”
The agency continued, “After being informed that the affected person had visited the local police station to inquire, we conveyed our apologies through the responsible investigator and took down the post. We will strive to prevent further harm and earnestly ask everyone to refrain from contacting the affected person.“
They also stated, “Renjun is deeply reflecting on his careless actions, and we apologize for our shortcomings in managing our artist. Once again, we apologize for causing concern to the affected person and many others.”
NCT’s Renjun temporarily halted activities in April due to health issues and anxiety symptoms. On June 11th, he expressed distress through a fan communication platform about sasaeng fans following him even on flights.
On June 20th, Renjun posted an ordinary civilian’s phone number on the fan communication platform, thinking it belonged to a “sasaeng fan”. This caused controversy.
