LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha Covers Miss A’s Hit, Draws Criticism from Suzy’s Fans

Recently, LE SSERAFIM held the fanmeeting FEARNADA to celebrate their 2nd debut anniversary. During the event, the members delivered performances of the group’s hit songs, interacted with fans, and also covered songs by other Kpop groups. Notably, Kazuha covered Miss A’s debut hit – Bad Girl, Good Girl, sparking a debate.

Kazuha recreated the iconic choreography of Bad Girl, Good Girl in her solo performance. The idol flaunted her striking visuals in a princess-like balletcore outfit. Given her background in ballet, Kazuha incorporated ballet moves to enhance her performance. It’s easy to notice Kazuha drawing inspiration from Suzy’s expressions and stage presence.

The controversy arose when Kazuha’s stage was met with criticism from Suzy’s fans. Speculations emerged that Kazuha and HYBE were using Suzy’s fame for attention. Since her debut, Kazuha has gained attention for her resemblance to the “nation’s first love”.

Kazuha’s feminine features and innocent image have often been compared to those of Suzy. HYBE has actively used the term “little Suzy” to promote the idol.

Since Coachella 2024, LE SSERAFIM has faced public backlash in Korea for their lackluster live performances. Despite maintaining a large fanbase, overcoming the negative sentiment towards LE SSERAFIM remains a challenge.

As a result, Suzy’s fans are particularly mad at witnessing Kazuha cover a song closely associated with Miss A’s career. Moreover, repeatedly using Suzy’s name to promote another idol has fueled discontent. They note that HYBE seems to be capitalizing on Suzy’s name to garner attention for Kazuha.

Currently, Suzy has shifted her focus away from music and towards acting. Many believe that HYBE is attempting to create another Suzy, by choosing Kazuha.

In response, K-netizens have voiced their opinions:

  • Is covering a Miss A song really worth all this hate? She didn’t even mention Suzy. It’s absurd for Kazuha to be hated on like this
  • Who hasn’t been unable to let go of Suzy since her debut? Who doesn’t know she’s constantly associated with Suzy? It’s not just once or twice.
  • If it was just covering a song, things wouldn’t have escalated to this extent. Copying Suzy’s style and expressions, it’s quite shocking.
  • Normally, if someone is praised for resembling someone else, they would deny it. We’re just uncomfortable because she keeps copying Suzy.
  • Who doesn’t know that since her debut, she’s been using Suzy’s name for attention? If it were another idol, their fans would be even more furious. Suzy’s fans are too kind. Her recreating Lee Doona’s scene and covering Suzy’s song is enough to explain everything. We’re not annoyed just because she covered Suzy’s song.
