6 of the 10 best-selling albums in the US in the first half of this year belonged to K-Pop artists.
American music data tracking company Luminate has published a list of the best-selling albums in the first half of 2023. Among them, the most surprising thing is that 6 out of 10 albums belong to K-Pop artists.
TXT‘s album The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION comes in at No. 2 on this chart, behind Taylor Swift’s Midnights album. The K-Pop boy band has sold 399,000 album copies. Thus, TXT also became the best-selling K-Pop artist in the US market in the first half of this year.
Next on the list is Stray Kids’ album 5-STAR with 327,000 copies. Meanwhile, TWICE is the only girl group to make it to this list and takes 4th place with their latest mini-album Ready To Be. This album also previously made history when it became the highest-selling album in the US for the week by any K-Pop artist to date.
SEVENTEEN’s FML also entered the list and ranked 6th. This is also the album that makes SEVENTEEN the first K-Pop artist to sell 6 million album copies worldwide.
Finally, the two members of BTS also gained big success with their solo albums. Suga’s first official solo album, D-DAY, ranked 8th with 200,000 copies, and Jimin’s album FACE ranked at 9th place with 196,000 copies.
