On the YouTube channel “Ddeun Ddeun” on November 9th, a video was uploaded featuring actress Seo Hyun-jin and actor Gong Yoo as guests.
In the video, host Yoo Jae-suk asked, “Didn’t you go to an arts high school?” Seo Hyun-jin shared that she had studied traditional Korean dance at a middle and high school specializing in Korean arts.
Gong Yoo chimed in, saying, “There are moments when that shines through in her work. Seo has been dedicated to this path from a young age; she’s taken an elite course,” while casually promoting their project together.
Seo then modestly said, “I danced tango. I had a partner teacher who helped with all the spins and pulls.”
Yoo Jae-suk then brought up her early career, saying, “Didn’t you transfer to Apgujeong High School to debut? And that led you to SM?”
A surprised Yang Se-chan exclaimed, “Noona, you were with SM?” Yoo Jae-suk clarified, “She debuted as part of the girl group MILK in 2001.
Seo Hyun-jin was cast on the street when she was still a freshman in high school, and after about a year of training, she made her debut with M.I.L.K in 2001.
M.I.L.K was called the 2nd S.E.S and has been active with a pure and cute image. Seo Hyun-jin was an M.I.LK member who had everything from visual, singing, and dancing skills.
At the time, Girls’ Generation‘s “Into the New World” was originally produced for M.I.L.K. The song failed to be released as M.I.L.K was disbanded, but it was released as Girls’ Generation’s debut single four years later and became a huge hit.
In an interview, Seo said, “I didn’t know what to do because I was too young. So I don’t remember how I did it. I think instead of thinking about it like, I went to work like going to a school festival every day.”
She graduated from National Traditional Music High School, majoring in Korean dance, before going to Dongduk Women’s University to study practical music. Because of that, she can sing and dance well, but had no clue as an actress. After M.I.L.K disbanded, she entered the path of becoming an actress with “Hwang Jini” in 2006.
Seo Hyun-jin reportedly participated as a member of Girls’ Generation project, but she failed to join the final line-up. If she did not become an actress and become a member of an idol group, what kind of future would it be?
Meanwhile, Seo Hyun-jin stars alongside Gong Yoo in the upcoming Netflix series Trunk, which premieres on the 29th. Trunk tells the story of a mysterious marriage service revealed after a trunk is found floating on a lake, uncovering the peculiar marriage story of two individuals.
