On November 11, a video titled “The Feelings of a Friend of 17 Years on the Controversy” was posted on the YouTube channel of Park Han-byul. In the video, the actress had a candid conversation with her long-time friend Hong In-gyu and discussed her thoughts on her husband’s past controversy.
Particularly, during the discussion, Park Han-byul addressed the sensitive topic head-on, asking Hong In-gyu, “Are there any questions you’ve wanted to ask me about my husband’s controversy but felt you couldn’t?”
Surprised, Hong asked if it was okay to bring it up. He admitted, “What mattered most to me was how your marriage was doing, if things were okay between you two. I was a bit worried”, to which Park replied, “Well, I think you already know the answer to that.”

When Hong In-gyu added, “It’s reassuring that you’re doing well together. I realized we don’t know everything that’s happening”, Park Han-byul responded lightheartedly, indicating she keeps a close eye on her husband, which touched Hong, who remarked, “I trust you.”
He also shared that Park is known for her easy-going and honest personality, and her ability to take good care of those around her, saying, “The fact that she has many long-term friends shows she’s a genuinely good person.”
Meanwhile, about 3 years ago, Park Han-byul was one of the successful actresses in Korea’s entertainment industry.
However, Park Han-byul married Yoo In-seok, former CEO of Yuri Holdings, in 2017, and they have two sons.
Her husband’s involvement in the 2019 Burning Sun scandal led her to pause her entertainment career. Yoo In-seok received a one-year prison sentence suspended for three years in December 2020 related to Burning Sun, and in December 2021, he received an additional six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, for allegedly hiring gang members to intimidate someone in a case involving former BIGBANG member Seungri.
At that time, Park commented, “No matter the outcome, I’ll view this as a process leading my family onto the right path. I can’t simply separate myself from my husband’s past; I feel a shared responsibility for all the controversies.”
The actress also reportedly submitted a handwritten formal appeal for her husband amid his arrest warrant evaluation, causing netizens to accuse her of siding with him and leave comments such as “Like husband, like wife”.
MBC was even asked to kick out Park Han-byul from the cast of “Love in Sadness”. After that, “Love in Sadness” was still completed, but another MBC drama starring Park Han-byul, “Unusual Men and Women”, was cancelled indefinitely.
In March 2019, Park Han-byul apologized to the public and then remained silent for a long time. She lost all film projects, completely withdrew from showbiz, and had to move with her son to Jeju Island. There was even information that Park Han-byul had to change her name to be able to live a new life. The only and last time that the public knew about her was in April 2021, when actress Eugene, Han-byul’s best friend, checked in at a cafe, with the female star behind her.
Eugene also shared: “A year ago, she told me she had plans to open a cafe. I couldn’t believe the dilapidated building could turn out to be this amazing. Although it hasn’t officially opened yet, it has become a hot spot. Mrs. Park is currently running the business. Congratulations.”
