Citing an official from the entertainment industry on March 10th, Sports Chosun exclusively reported, “Suzy will play the main character in Netflix’s new series ‘Lee Do-na!’ (directed by Lee Jung-hyo)”.
“Lee Do-na!” is a work by artist Min Song-ah that has been serialized on Naver Webtoon since July 2019. “Lee Do-na!”, the Thursday webtoon which is currently running until season 3, tells the story of Lee Do-na, an idol who suddenly retired, living in the same house as Lee Won-joon, a university freshman.
Most netizens were surprised knowing that Suzy will be playing the main character Lee Do-na in the series “Lee Do-na!” but they showed favorable responses, saying it would be very interesting if she can perform well in the adaptation.
Internet users commented under the news on online communities, saying, “Suzy…?”, “OMG…?”, “Is this real…?”, “I’m also curious about the character Nam-joo. I think it would be an interesting work if they adapt it well”, “I hope the drama version will be a good one”, “Oh, Suzy is taking on a different image. I’m looking forward to it”, etc.
Director Lee Jung-hyo, who was behind the success of tvN’s “Crash Landing on You”, “Romance Is a Bonus Book”, OCN’s “Life on Mars”, will be in charge of directing “Lee Do-na!”.
Meanwhile, Suzy recently made her comeback as a singer for the first time in four years. She released her new single “Satellite” on various music sites at 6 P.M on the 17th of last month. “Satellite” is a song made with a Brit-pop and band sound.
