9 celebrities who passed away at young ages due to tragic accidents 

As people mourned the victims of the Itaewon tragedy, celebrities who left the world too early are being mentioned by netizens. 

Recently, actor Lee Jihan and cheerleader Kim Yuna were confirmed as victims of the Itaewon crowd crush, leaving deep regrets.

At 8 am (KST) on November 1st, Kim Yuna’s funeral was held at the funeral home of Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and at 1:30 pm on the same day, Lee Jihan‘s funeral was held at the funeral home of Myongji Hospital in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The two died at the age of 25, a blossoming age with many things to experience.

Lee Jihan, who used to appear in the Mnet program “Produce 101 Season 2”, aroused pity as he was reported to have been filming for MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Season of Kokdu”. 

Lee Jihan’s agency, 935 Entertainment, said, “It is heartbreaking to greet you with sad news. We send our deepest condolences to the bereaved families who are deeply saddened by the sudden loss and to all those who love, cherish, and grieve actor Lee Jihan.”

On the other hand, Kim Yuna made her debut as a cheerleader in the LG Twins cheering squad in 2016 and has been a member of the KIA Tigers since 2018.

On the 29th, the crowd crush in Itaewon killed over 100 people, most of whom, including Lee Jihan and Kim Yuna, are said to be in their teens, 20s, and 30s.

The first to be mentioned are Kwon Rise and Go Eunbi, former members of girl group Ladies’ Code, who passed away on October 7th, 8 years ago. They died in a car accident in 2014 at the age of 23 and 21, respectively. 

In particular, Rise was taken to the hospital immediately after the accident and received treatment, but died 4 days later, while Eunbi, who was in the car at the time of the accident, passed away on the same day and made everyone cry.

Kwon Rise, a Korean-Japanese native, appeared on MBC’s audition program “The Great Birth” in 2011, and made her debut in 2013 with Ladies’ Code, nurturing her dream of becoming a singer.

A wave of mourning continues for Kwon Rise and Go Eunbi, who were unable to fulfill their dreams due to a tragic incident. 

In 2018, the news of the death of Kim Wooyoung, who worked as a model, was reported. Apparently, he died at the age of 26 in an unexpected car accident while riding a motorcycle.

In 2017, Kim Wooyoung appeared in the music video for “Change”, a collaboration song between BTS RM and American rapper Wale, and was active on the fashion stage a month before the accident.

His career, which was in full bloom, ended suddenly, causing many hearts to break. 

In addition to Kim Wooyoung, Kim Minsoo, a member of the group Monday Kiz, former model-actor Lee Eon, actors Kang Daesung, and Seunggyu were killed in a motorcycle accident at a young age.

They left the world so early, but netizens remember them every year and deeply mourn them.

Meanwhile, as of 12:00 p.m (KST) on November 1st, the death toll from the Itaewon disaster increased further from the previous count, bringing the total to 156.

The additional death was reported to be a woman in her 20s who was seriously injured. Of the previously reported 151 injured, 111 have recovered and returned home, while 40 were hospitalized.

So far, 55 men and 101 women have been killed in the Itaewon accident.
