‘8-year couple’ Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee to release new movie

Director Hong’s new film “In Our Day” will be released in Korea on October 19. Kim Min-hee acts as the main character in the movie.

“In Our Day” is Hong’s 30th movie. The film tells the story of visitors coming to retired actress Sang-won (Kim Min-hee) and poet Ui-ju (Ki Joo-bong), who is in his 70s.

The film was selected as the closing film of The Directors’ Fortnight at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May.

At the time, Cannes Directors’ Fortnight Delegate General Julien Reji praised the editing between the two characters who talked about the life lessons while dealing with the various pleasures of life.” He also complemented on Kim Min-hee’s acting and considered Hong Sang-soo one of the greatest film directors.

Director Hong Sang-soo, who failed to divorce his wife, continued his relationship with Kim Min-hee even after losing his divorce lawsuit. Meanwhile, Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee have been dating for eight years.

The two became a couple while filming the 2015 film “Right Now and Wrong Then.

Director Hong Sang-soo filed for divorce from his wife in 2016, but lost in 2019. It is known that he has not been divorced to this day. They continue to be together despite the 22-year age gap.

At the press preview of the film “On the Beach at Night Alone,” released in March 2017, the two revealed that they were in a relationship.
