“52 years of acting experience” Youn Yuh-jung threw out the scripts when she heard that she had to audition

Actress Youn Yuh-jung, who has been acting for 52 years, revealed that she was told by Apple TV+ to come to the audition.

Recently, Youn Yuh-jung attended an online press conference for Apple TV+’s “Pachinko“, which will be released on March 25th. On this day, Youn Yuh-jung said that Apple TV+ told her to come to the audition first.

Youn Yuh-jung shared, “I didn’t understand why I was asked to audition after acting for decades.” She explained, “Of course, I’ve heard of the American culture of auditioning, but it’s not familiar with Koreans.”

Youn Yuh-jung continued, “If I audition and say ‘I don’t think I’m suitable for this role’, our industry will claim that ‘Youn Yuh-jung failed the audition’.” She went on to say, “I couldn’t lose my 50-year career because of this one role, so I threw out 8 scripts in front of the entrance.” She added, “Then they invited me, so I did it.”

In his 17th year since debut, Lee Min-ho actually auditioned and joined “Pachinko“. Lee Min-ho said, “I know that the audition went up to a total of 6 rounds, but I think I took part in the 4th round.”
