5 Kdrama female leads with stunning super powers (ft. Gong Hyo Jin, Suzy, and more)

Thanks to their extraordinary powers, the life of these K-drama female leads is more exciting than ever.

Romantic K-dramas are already iconic, but in some cases, a little sprinkling of fantasy can do wonders. In fact, it is a normal trope that Kdrama female leads have supernatural power, and use them for the greater good, while snagging their other half on the way.

Below are some of these iconic female leads:

Do Bong Soon – Super strength (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon)

When it comes to supernatural powers on the Korean small screen, Do Bong Soon may be the first to come to mind. In the K-drama series “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”, the female lead Do Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) has great physical prowess. She can punch through walls and overthrow trucks, and so is hired to protect the male lead Min Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik), who is the CEO of a game company.

Despite being physically strong, Do Bong Soon is pretty cute and gentle in love. She eventually boasts intense chemistry with Min Hyuk, making for an unlikely yet extremely lovely couple.

Hong Joo – Premonition through dreams (While You Were Sleeping)

In “While You Were Sleeping”, the “nation’s first love” Suzy transforms into Hong Joo, who can see the future through her dreams. She ended up sharing this power with 2 other guys – the prosecutor Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk) and the police officer Woo Tak (Jung Hae In).

Together, the trio learns to connect their premonition to prevent bad consequences from happening, as well as defeat the evils they encounter. The love triangle between the three is also among the best in K-drama land.

Eun Seol – Seeing smells (Girl Who Sees Smells)

Like the title, the female lead Eun Seol (Shin Se Kyung) of “Girl Who Sees Smells” can see scenes in the form of various flying objects. In particular, she gained such a power after witnessing the gruesome murder of her parents. She was then hit by a car, entered a coma for 6 months, and woke up with a green eye that can see smells in a physical form.

As each smell boasts a different shape and color, Eun Seol can easily tell what a person did and how they are feeling, and ended up using her powers to help the male lead investigate a series of murders.

Seul Bi – Premonition through touch (Jinxed At First)

In 2022, the youngest member of SNSD, Seohyun, returned with quite a unique role. In particular, she played the role of Seul Bi in “Jinxed At First” – a goddess of fortune who brings luck to people and can tell the future of whoever she touches.

Having been isolated from society, Seul Bi always dreamed of being free, and had an encounter with Soo Kang, who she deemed her prince. Together, the two change their own destinies, and make for a hilarious yet still heartfelt love story.

Gong Sil – Seeing ghosts (Master’s Sun)

Similar to the aforementioned characters, Gong Sil (Gong Hyo Jin) in “Master’s Sun” also finds the love of her life with the assistance of superpower. As she can see ghosts, Gong Sil faced a lot of struggle in her life, and often felt anxious and scared with her constantly grim vision.

One day, however, she discovered that whenever she’s together with the arrogant CEO Joong Won (So Ji Sub), ghosts can no longer bother her, allowing her to live a normal life. On the other hand, Joong Won was also softened by Gong Sil’s presence, learning to love and enjoy life better by her side.
