“36th Golden Disc Awards” confirmed to be held in January 2022, “online or face-to-face” problem left undecided
The “36th Golden Disc Awards” has been confirmed to be held in January 2022.
The “36th Golden Disc Awards“ will take place on January 8, 2022 at Gocheok Sky Dome, Guro-gu, Seoul. This time, the awards ceremony was decided to be held within a day at a “clean concert hall”, which followed social distancing guidelines and quarantine rules.
The “36th Golden Disc Awards” will judge songs and albums released from November 2020 to mid-November 2021. Songs and albums that were removed from the “35th Golden Disc Awards” nominations due to overlapping in the judging count deadline will become subjects of examination this time.
Nominees for major categories will be selected based on quantitative evaluation such as music usage and album sales. The final winner will be decided by adding 60% of sales compiled by mid-December 2021 and 40% of the judgement score of 50 experts including music reporters, music program producers, popular music critics, domestic distributors as well as Golden Disc Awards’ executives. In the meantime, the online voting rate has been excluded from judging criteria in order to prevent major awards such as Bonsang, Daesang and Rookie from degenerating into popularity awards.
Nominees for the “36th Golden Disc Awards” major categories can be found on its official website on December 8th. Meanwhile, the “Golden Disc Awards” will decide whether to invite audiences in line with the COVID-19 situation, putting the safety of all artists, audiences and staff first.
