On December 25th, 2023 SBS Gayo Daejeon was held at Inspire Area in Incheon and hosted by MCs SHINee’s Key, TXT’s Yeonjun and IVE’s Ahn Yu-jin.
Before and during the event, 2023 SBS Gayo Daejeon caused a stir as it was harshly criticized by K-pop fans due to various problems, such as ticket fraud, sound accidents, LED accidents, foot cameras, etc.
After the concert ended, a video showing NCT’s Ten falling from the stage lift spread among fans and on social media, causing a great shock to netizens. Although the accident was not noticeable on the live broadcast, according to fancams, Ten fell into the lift hole while heading toward it during the stage and hit his body, arms, and legs severely.
In the fancam from another angle, another NCT member standing nearby was startled to see it, causing worries to fans. Later, Ten left a message on the fan community to reassure fans, saying “I’m okay. Don’t worry. If it really hurts, I will tell you guys right away. Again, Merry Christmas. I love you”.
Earlier in 2019, Red Velvet’s Wendy also suffered injuries in her wrist and pelvis due to an accident with the stage lift during the rehearsal of a year-end event and had to go on hiatus for a while. Nevertheless, a similar accident was repeated this year so many people are expressing concerns regarding the safety issues of SBS Gayo Daejeon.
SBS has not yet issued an official apology for various broadcasting accidents during its events. Apart from Ten’s stage lift accident, sound issues occurred during Stray Kids’s performance as their music overlapped with NewJeans’s songs and the sound was doubled during ZB1’s stage.
During The Boyz’s stage, the newly choreographed acrobatic moves performed by Juyeon were introduced but the camera couldn’t capture it and showed only the audience during the highlight part of the performance, drawing regrets from fans. NCT fans also complained about the camera problems as it even focused on the members’ legs and feet instead of their faces.
While ITZY was performing on stage, viewers were taken aback when they saw a mouse right-click menu next to Yeji’s face on the LED screen.
