Lee Byung-hun Amazes With His Explosive Popularity In Italy

Episode 31 of Channel A’s entertainment program “Living In Another Country”, which aired on April 26th, showed Kwon Sung-deok and Julia couple introducing Florence, Italy.

Apart from showing the view and their stories of memories in Florence, the two also headed to the Florence Korean Film Festival, known as one of the big annual events in Florence. It started as a small festival in 2003 and later became so big that it could even invite famous actors and directors, such as Park Hae-il, Song Kang-ho, Jung Woo-sung, Lee Jung-jae, etc.

This year, director Bong Joon-ho, actors Song Kang-ho and Lee Byung-hun attended the festival.

Kwon Sung-deok succeeded in seeing Lee Byung-hun in person. After expressing his gratitude to the Italian audience, Lee Byung-hun received Actor of the Year award and the honorary citizenship of Florence amid loud applause. Seeing the scene, the MCs, including Ahn Jung-hwan, exclaimed, “He’s so cool”, “So amazing”, “I feel so proud”, etc.

During the event, Lee Byung-hun got a letter from a female fan. When the fan asked Lee Byung-hun to say his famous line from the drama “Our Blues”, the actor immediately acted it and the audience cheered loudly. Amazed by the scene, the MCs commented, “Italian fans know everything”.

In the studio, Christina, who is from Italy, made a testimony proving the popularity of Lee Byung-hun in her home country, saying “He’s super famous”. With a proud expression, Ahn Jung-hwan, who used to live in Italy when he was a soccer player, added, “The fans’ enthusiasm is so amazing. We have to spread this all over the world”.
