LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura Tearfully Shared Thoughts on Being Labeled a Bad Singer
LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura, who came under controversy for her singing, candidly talked about the criticism she has been facing
It’s been two weeks since LE SSERAFIM performed at Coachella, but the disappointment from netizens still linger.
Recently, netizens revisited LE SSERAFIM’s documentary “The World Is My Oyster,” which aired in September 2022. In one episode, Sakura choked up while talking about being criticized for her singing and being called a bad singer.
Despite being in the industry for 10 years, Sakura confirmed that she’s heard negative comments about her vocal skills: “Many people say I sing poorly.”
She became even more emotional when talking about how hurtful those comments were: “When I hear those things, it really hurts. It’s tough every time I step into the recording studio.”
Sakura also admitted that harsh comments made her want to limit her singing parts in LE SSERAFIM’s songs: “I heard that the singing parts were evenly distributed, but when I heard those words, I started thinking that I don’t want too many lines in our group’s songs. I want to do well, but I’m also worried about having to keep hearing those criticisms.”
Even before Coachella, Sakura faced heavy criticism since her participation in “Produce 48”. During rehearsals for the stage “Very very very,” former Sistar member Soyou expressed disappointment: “I really find it hard to focus on this group. Why is Sakura in the center position? Because of Sakura, everything is ruined. Her pronunciation is not good. She’s in the center position, and she doesn’t do well. Why let someone who’s not good hold the center position?”
After the controversial Coachella stage, netizens mocked that Sakura’s statement of “not wanting to run away and work hard” seemed to be just empty words.
Still, some netizens hope Sakura and LE SSERAFIM will make a more impressive comeback to regain their reputation.
