Beloved Chinese actress Zhao Lusi is officially back and thriving. After a year-long hiatus caused by severe illness and a contentious contract dispute with her former management company, Zhao Lusi has returned to the entertainment scene with renewed energy and fan support.
According to 163, Zhao Lusi recently held a birthday music concert in Chengdu to celebrate her 27th birthday. During the event, she performed her new song Black Veil Bride, earning praise for her vibrant energy and confident stage presence—a stark contrast to the fragile state she was in just months ago, when she struggled to walk on her own.

Emotionally moved, Zhao Lusi tearfully told fans, “Just two months ago, I genuinely thought I might never be able to act again.” She thanked her supporters for helping her persevere through an incredibly difficult time.
Zhao has now signed with a new management agency, Beijing Yier Sansi, and her studio’s social media accounts have resumed activity after months of silence. Previously, her former agency Yinhe Kuyu had full control over her accounts.

Reports from 163 and Sohu reveal a string of positive updates for the actress. Her drama Love’s Ambition has performed well, and her newly released song Black Veil Bride reached No.1 on multiple music charts.
The shift to a new agency suggests her contract dispute with Yinhe Kuyu may have been resolved. The conflict began in December 2024, when Zhao was diagnosed with a serious illness and took a break from acting. She later accused her former agency of harsh treatment, broken promises, and online defamation. She also revealed that she was pressured to pay a massive penalty fee.
Despite being physically ill, Zhao was reportedly dismissed by the company as “acting crazy.” In her livestreams, she repeatedly defended herself, stating: “I’m not crazy. I just want to speak up. I accept the consequences, but right is right, and wrong is wrong.”

Zhao’s contract with Yinhe Kuyu was supposed to last until 2030, with an estimated 300 million RMB (over $41 million USD) in penalties for breaking the agreement—an impossible burden for a young actress. At one point, she even considered quitting the entertainment industry entirely.
Over the past year, fans have expressed deep concern over her condition. But now, Zhao Lusi’s powerful return backed by new projects, music success, and a fresh agency signals a new chapter in her career.
