Youtuber suspected of receiving Yoo Ah In’s money to escape to France and avoid drug use investigation

A Youtuber is said to have fled to France after refusing to comply with police investigations related to Yoo Ah In’s drug case.

According to News1’s report on June 9th, the police raise the suspicion that Youtuber Yang received money from Yoo Ah In and left Korea last month.

Yang was also found to have uploaded a Youtube video on the 8th.

According to the police, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit booked Yang on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. However, they did not cooperate with the investigation and left the country. The police already obtained an arrest warrant against Mr. Yang, invalidated his passport, and requested an Interpol red notice. Yang, who was originally a witness in Yoo Ah In’s case, left Korea after refusing to comply with the police investigation. As a result, the police changed Yang’s status to a suspect. 

There are claims that Yoo Ah In helped Yang escape by giving them money through an acquaintance. The police also found out that Yang flew to France last month after receiving a money transfer.

Considering the possibility of evidence destruction attempts based on such circumstances, the police submitted an application to get an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah In. 

However, they also emphasized that further confirmation is needed to determine whether the money transferred to Yang originated from Yoo Ah In.

Yoo Ah In attended a substantive examination for the arrest warrant at the Seoul Central District Court on May 24th. However, the arrest warrant application was rejected. The police have booked a total of 21 people without detention on charges of misuse of medical drugs, including Yoo Ah In, 8 people around him, and 12 medical officials, including 10 doctors.
