“Youn’s Kitchen” cast eventually cannot reunite as a whole team due to Youn Yuh Jung’s absence
Actress Youn Yuh Jung reportedly failed to join the cast of tvN’s entertainment program “Youn’s Kitchen” in the new season.
According to reports by Star News on November 9th, actress Youn Yuh Jung decided to not appear in the new season of PD Na Young Seok’s “Kitchen Series”, which is scheduled to be filmed early next month.
Youn Yuh Jung was previously the main chef and owner of PD Na Young Seok’s representative entertainment program “Youn’s Kitchen”. “Youn’s Kitchen” shows famous stars setting up small Korean restaurants overseas. Both seasons 1 and 2, which aired in 2017 and 2018, were very successful in terms of ratings as well as hot topics.
Youn Yuh Jung, who formed a close relationship with PD Na Young Seok through tvN’s program “Sisters Over Flowers” in 2013, became more familiar to the public through “Youn’s Kitchen”. When “Youn’s Kitchen” was temporarily stopped in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic spread, PD Na Young Seok turned to Korea again and introduced “Youn’s Stay”, a spin-off program centering on Youn Yuh Jung.
As the news of “Youn’s Kitchen”’s return was reported on Star News’s exclusive report on October 27th, fans raised expectations to see the appearance of the entire cast members of “Youn’s Kitchen”, who showed perfect teamwork in previous seasons. Unfortunately, Youn Yuh Jung couldn’t join the team and promised to appear the next time.
It has become more difficult for Youn Yuh Jung to film any entertainment program due to the scheduled filming of Apple TV+’s original series “Pachinko Season 2”. Accordingly to Youn Yuh Jung’s representative, the actress had tried to coordinate her schedule hoping to possibly participate in the program until recently, but the agency decided to not make such a tight schedule for the actress because she is already old.
Due to Youn Yuh Jung’s absence, PD Na Young Seok is expected to introduce “Youn’s Kitchen”’s spin-off “This is Seo Jin”. Led by actor Lee Seo Jin, other cast members of “Youn’s Kitchen”, including Jung Yoo Mi and Park Seo Joon, have also planned to unite to run a restaurant overseas. Choi Woo Sik, who was an intern in “Youn’s Stay”, is also in discussions to appear. The production team has begun preparing by exploring overseas locations for the filming with the goal of airing the program next year.
