Young and Rich stars who purchased luxury housing

The news of BLACKPINK’s Jennie purchasing a luxury villa worth 5 billion won in cash has sparked significant attention, bringing focus to such Young and Rich stars

On Nov 14th, it was revealed that Jennie purchased a luxury villa for 5 billion won without taking out a loan. The villa is in “LaTerrace Hannam”, located within UN Village in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. It has an area for exclusive use of 244.97㎡ (about 74 pyeong), a supply area of 286㎡(about 87 pyeong) with 5 rooms and 3 bathrooms.

In May, trot singer Lim Young-woong was reported to have purchased a Mecenatpolis penthouse in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul for 5.1 billion won, likely in full cash, as there were no separate mortgages on the register copy.

Lim Young-woong’s Mecenatpolis penthouse has an area for exclusive use of 223.31㎡ (about 89 pyeong). Mecenatpolis, approved for use in July 2012, consists of 3 towers with a total of 617 units ranging from basement level 7 to the highest floor 39.

In June 2022, it was reported that singer G-Dragon (born in 1988), a member of boy group BIGBANG, purchased a penthouse in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul called “Nine One Hannam” for 16.4 billion won in cash. Like Lim Young-woong, it is presumed to be a full cash purchase as there were no separate mortgages on the register copy.

G-Dragon’s Nine One Hannam penthouse has an area for exclusive use of 244㎡ (74 pyeong), and he reportedly chose this place because it offers exclusive features such as private garage, elevator that are only available in penthouses.

BTS members RM and Jimin also chose Nine One Hannam. In March 2021, they each purchased units with the same size, 244.34㎡ (about 74 pyeong) of floor area and 293.93㎡ (about 89 pyeong) of supply area, for 6.36 billion won and 5.9 billion won, respectively, in full cash. The reason for the difference in their purchase prices was explained as RM’s unit having a terrace.
