In the final episode of tvN’s weekend drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty aired on September 28, viewers were left heartbroken as Yeon Ji-young, played by Im YoonA, sacrificed her life to save Yi Heon (Lee Chae-min).

The scene unfolded when Yi Heon confronted Prince Jesan (Choi Gwi-hwa), who had taken Yeon Ji-young hostage. Filled with rage, Yi Heon pointed his sword at Jesan, declaring, “Uncle, you dare take away my chef, whom even the Ming could not claim? Be prepared.”

As the two clashed fiercely, Ji-young managed to free herself from her ropes and escape. She then stumbled upon Mang Un Rok, a book containing recipes she had created, along with a hidden confession: “If the one I love ever reads this, may they return to my side.” Shocked, Ji-young whispered, “So His Highness is the author of Mang Un Rok?”

In a split second, seeing Jesan’s blade about to strike Yi Heon, Ji-young threw herself in front of him, taking the fatal blow. With fading strength, she confessed, “I never truly wanted to leave.”

Desperate, Yi Heon cried out, “How dare you leave without my permission!” But Ji-young gave him her final words: “I love you, Your Highness,” before passing away. As she died, Mang Un Rok glowed and her body ascended toward the heavens.

Tears streaming, Yi Heon looked up and grieved, “The book Chef Yeon sought so desperately… it was my journal all along. Why must it be now?” He then vowed, “Wherever you go, I will find you.”
