According to OSEN on January 4th, Yoona recently completed a contract renewal with SM Entertainment, maintaining an unwavering loyalty since her debut 17 years ago.
Later on the same day, an official from SM Entertainment also said to OSEN, “SM has renewed the contract with Yoona for the third time and will continue to accompany her for the 17th year”.
They continued, “SM plans to provide full support to Yoona, who is active in various fields, from dramas to movies and stages, so that she can shine brighter and continue to be an artist who spreads good influence around the world. Please keep showing much love to Yoona and look forward to her future activities”, expressing their affection for the artist.
Debuting in 2007 as a member of Girls’ Generation, Yoona has signed her 3rd contract with SM Entertainment. The renewal process was smoothly concluded based on mutual trust and confidence between the artist and the company.
Yoona has risen to the top star ranks, juggling both singing and acting. With activities spanning across variety shows, hosting MBC’s Gayo Daejejeon for 9 consecutive years, and excelling in dramas and movies, Yoona continues to receive immense love from the public.
Especially noteworthy is her recent prominence in acting. ‘Confidential Assignment’ and its sequel drew cumulative audiences of 7.8 million and 7 million respectively. In 2019, ‘Exit’ with Yoona playing the lead gathered an impressive 9.42 million viewers. These successes have solidified Yoona’s position as a box office queen.
Her TV drama performances are equally impressive. MBC’s ‘Big Mouth’, aired in 2022, achieved a peak viewership of 13.7% nationwide. JTBC’s drama ‘King the Land‘, where she acted alongside Lee Junho last year, recorded 13.8%, securing a successful run.
Notably, ‘King the Land’ claimed No.1 in Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV category (English and non-English) during its broadcast. This marked the first time a domestically aired drama, excluding Netflix original series, topped the charts since ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’. ‘King the Land’ garnered huge attention globally, earning Yoona the title of ‘romantic comedy queen’.
Yoona is set to kick off the new year with a fan meeting in Seoul on January 6-7. Following this, she will embark on an Asian fan meeting tour in a total of 8 cities.
