During a wrap-up interview at the Ambassador Pullman Hotel in Seoul, Yoona revealed the extensive preparation she undertook to embody her role as a French cuisine chef. She began training nearly six months before filming, attending cooking academies, practicing knife skills, and working with professional chefs, including Shin Jong Cheol and Oh Se Deuk, to perfect both Korean and Western dishes. “I wanted to perform every cooking scene myself, without a double,” she explained, adding that she collaborated closely with food stylists and the production team to ensure authenticity on screen.
Despite the early turbulence of the drama when the original male lead was replaced due to personal controversies Yoona remained focused on building her character. “More than anything, I thought it was important to complete Yeon Ji Young as a character,” she said. “Of course, chemistry with my co-star mattered, but I had so much to prepare as Ji Young that I concentrated on her journey.”

She then praised Lee Chae Min, who joined the cast at short notice as King Yi Heon: “It was truly impressive how he prepared so thoroughly in such a short time. I’m grateful for his dedication.”
Although Lee Chae Min is ten years younger, Yoona emphasized that his professionalism bridged the gap. “He has such a bright and healthy energy. On set, he kept the mood lively with jokes, but at the same time, he’s very mature, well-prepared, and focused. You really don’t feel the age difference when working with him.”
Bon Appétit, Your Majesty combined time-slip fantasy, palace intrigue, and culinary artistry, becoming both a domestic and global success. Yoona’s performance was a major highlight of the drama’s run.
