Yoon Eun-hye recalled the controversy over the casting of “Princess Hours”, “I gained my courage and wanted to challenge the drama”

Actress Yoon Eun-hye talked about the drama casting controversy in the past.

Yoon Eun-hye, an actress and former member of girl group Baby Vox, appeared on the September 7th broadcast of Naver NOW’s “Just Come Out” and had a sincere conversation with Kang Ho-dong.

Taking this opportunity, Kang Ho-dong brought up the issue that happened when the drama “Princess Hours” was broadcast in 2006. At that time, netizens posted articles on online communities to express to oppose the casting of Yoon Eun-hye, pointing out that she did not suit the role of Shin Chae-kyung, the female lead of “Princess Hours”. Some claimed that Yoon Eun-hye did not suit the image of the character in the webtoon.

Yoon Eun-hye calmly read the articles about the casting controversy in the past. She then revealed the behind story of the casting. The actress said, “My manager told me to go to an audition. I didn’t know what kind of drama I was auditioning for, but I talked about my family story in front of the director. I came home after spending the whole audition talking about my life. Then it turned out that my life story was similar to that of the character”.

Yoon Eun-hye said that she was chosen as the heroine like that. She confessed, “They chose me as the main character without any acting experience. After that, I started hearing about the casting controversy. But I was like, ‘Why do you judge me without even looking at me?’ I didn’t want to give up, and the thought of wanting to try it was strangely exciting.”

Kang Ho-dong said, “Fortunately, the controversy disappeared as soon as the drama aired.” Yoon Eun-hye recalled, “The fact that the ratings go up is a way to prove, isn’t it? The director was really kind to me.”

She made everyone laugh by adding, “The ratings of all the works I did at the beginning of my acting career were good, such as ‘The Vineyard Man’ and ‘Coffee Prince’. I received so many good scripts back then. My standards got higher.”
