Yoo Ah In’s case, expand investigation into accomplice “Scheduled for second summons”

The police are investigating actor Yoo Ah In (37, real name Uhm Hong Sik), who is suspected of using drugs, after confirming the existence of an accomplice.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said at a press conference on April 10th, “We are additionally investigating the accomplice who used drugs together with Yoo Ah In ahead of his second summoning investigation.”

The police plan to summon Yoo Ah In again as soon as the supplementary investigation into the accomplice is completed.

On March 27th, Yoo Ah In appeared at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit in Mapo-gu, Seoul and was investigated on charges of using 4 types of drugs: propofol, ketamine, marijuana and cocaine.

Initially, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety requested the police to investigate Yoo Ah In on charges of administering over 4,400ml of propofol 73 times in 2021. The National Forensic Service’s detailed drug appraisal found 4 drug components: propofol, marijuana, cocaine and ketamine.

Accordingly, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit raided hospitals and clinics in Gangnam and Yongsan-gu, Seoul as well as Yoo Ah In’s two houses. They also investigated hospital officials.

In addition, the police, who received the drug appraisal result from the National Forensic Service on Feb 27th, called in Yoo Ah In’s manager and acquaintances as witnesses on March 13th~14th.
