In this movie, Yoo Ah-in played the role of Dong-wook, the leader of Sanggyedong Supreme team and presented passionate acting performances, announcing his comeback after sweeping Best Actor awards with “Voice of Silence” (2020).

The character Dong-wook that Yoo Ah-in played this time dreams of participating in the Daytona Race, the world’s largest racing competition, with his excellent racing skills. He is sensitive to fashion and wants to go to LA to achieve his American dream.

In particular, Yoo Ah-in performed car-chasing action scenes all by himself. In order to portray Dong-wook, who gains recognition for his excellent driving skills, learned how to unite with his car by receiving driving training before joining the filming.

Yoo Ah-in shared, “In the case of ‘Seoul Vibe’, I had more time to get closer to other actors as w hung out with each other a lot. I was curious about the results that the work would get and how the fact that I spent a lot of time with my fellow actors would affect the work. That’s one of the factors that made me choose ‘Seoul Vibe’. I had so much fun filming the movie”, emphasizing how the work means to him.

The actor continued, “Regardless of who’s doing better or who’s the seniors and juniors, it is a work that can bring hopes and encouraging feelings to us on the filming site. I’m the style who tends to bully myself on the filming set and keep myself far away from others. However, it was different when I filmed ‘Seoul Vibe’. Although it’s important to talk about the work seriously, I played a lot of games with other actors during breaks and I felt like the door to my heart was opened. It was so great. I’m very grateful to those friends.”

In addition, Yoo Ah-in, who has been active for 20 years, drew attention by revealing his changed mindset as an actor.

Yoo Ah-in confessed, “‘Celebrities are public figures or not?’, as I try to get rid of that framework, I think I didn’t create the character of ‘actor Yoo Ah-in’ by myself but with many audiences, the media and officials in the film industry. I think I should make better moments by taking better care of Yoo Ah-in and cherishing more”.

He continued, “In the past, I considered ‘taking any challenges’ an important value and thought it would be great to be an actor who can grow up with people who look at me through my growth. I’ve been like that for a long time since I was a rookie. Now I’ve changed my mind and I think I must shift the responsibility for those expectations to my own fun. I don’t think it’s only fun to betray my expectations unconditionally. While there are responses saying ‘It succeeded’, someone will say ‘It failed’. Therefore, in the expectations that I have for myself, the responsibility is growing and I am looking at it realistically”, showing his mature side.

In addition, Yoo Ah-in said, “Looking back on my past, I think I had a lot of embarrassing thoughts when I was in my teens and 20s. Not knowing how great we are, I used to consider Western, American, and European as “unconditionally” better. There were times when I had the shameful thoughts of searching for pop songs on the Internet instead of watching K-pop programs.”

Lastly, Yoo Ah-in shared, “I recently heard my close friend’s mother comment, ‘I think Yoo Ah-in is getting a little bit cheesy. Isn’t he going too safely?’. A very close friend carefully told me that my rebellious charm had disappeared and that I gradually became a little cheesy. In fact, I haven’t made any unexpected remarks these days, and I agreed with the words of my friend’s mother. However, I still try to be honest. I don’t think I’ve changed completely. It’s how I do to take full responsibility for what I say and do, so I think you’ll understand what I mean when seeing my changed appearance”.
