Veteran Japanese actress Yoko Maki has announced that she is expecting her second child. The 41-year-old actress shared the news in a personal video, proudly revealing her baby bump and expressing her joy and cautious optimism.
“This almost feels like a miracle. I’m very happy,” Maki stated. “Since I’m pregnant at a later age, I’m being very mindful of my mental health and surroundings. I hope everyone will treat me gently until I give birth.”
Yoko Maki, born in 1982, has been active in film and television since the early 2000s. Her notable credits include The Grudge, Battle Royale II: Requiem, and the hit drama Voice: 110 Emergency Control Room.

She was previously married in November 2008 and gave birth to her first daughter in May 2009. The marriage ended in divorce six years later.
In 2023, Yoko Maki made headlines for her relationship with Katsushika Shin, a fellow actor 16 years her junior. Katsushika, a relatively low-profile actor, is believed to come from a wealthy family background. He has appeared in minor roles, including the crime series Keishicho Mayaku Torishimarika Mogura.
Despite not being legally married, the couple has expressed deep commitment to one another. “We haven’t registered our marriage, but we share the same life goals,” Maki said. “We want to live together for the long term, respecting each other’s freedom without being bound by legal contracts.”
The announcement has sparked positive reactions from fans and the Japanese entertainment community, many of whom praised Yoko Maki for embracing both motherhood and personal independence on her own terms.
