YG on the good results of BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down”, “Our system shines”

BLACKPINK’s 2nd full album title track “Shut Down” is doing well.

YG Entertainment said on September 20th, “BLACKPINK’s ‘Shut Down’ dance performance video has now exceeded 20 million views. It is expected to break another record as it is growing similarly to the performance video of ‘How You Like That’, which even surpassed the popularity of the song’s MV.”

YG Entertainment continued, “The dance performance video for ‘Shut Down’ topped the ranking of YouTube’s ‘Most viewed videos in the past 24 hours’ on that day. BLACKPINK is competing with themselves as the performance video overtook the official MV (which ranked 3rd place).”

The agency continued, “If the choreography video is the culmination of performance, the music video is receiving a warm response by capturing Blackpink’s past musical journey. The earth of ‘Whistle’, the matchstick of ‘Playing with Fire’, the car scene of ‘Kill This Love’, and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’’s tank, etc., representing the hit songs, were used in the right place.”

YG Entertainment said, “It not only reminds us of BLACKPINK’s growth narrative, but also gave special impressions to fans who have always been with their music,” adding, “The US Billboard released a special article that recounts each object and its meaning.”

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is showing off their strong status on various global charts with their 2nd regular album ‘BORN PINK’. The album topped the iTunes album chart in 54 countries, including the US and UK, and topped the Apple Music album chart in 64 countries. The title song ‘Shut Down’ entered the daily top song global chart on the first day of release on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, and has maintained the top position for three days in a row.
