Yang Yoseob Reveals Reason for Hiding COVID-19 Diagnosis: “Didn’t Want to Burden Others”

HIGHLIGHT’s Yang Yoseob confessed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks before his concert and explained why he kept it a secret.

Yang Yoseob’s solo concert, ‘BITTER SWEET,’ was held on June 10th at Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

This concert marked Yang Yoseob’s first solo concert after a five-year hiatus since ‘白’ (White) in 2018. Due to military service and other circumstances, the concert was delayed more than expected.

Yang Yoseob apologized to fans, saying, “Actually, I should have held the concert after the release of my first full album, ‘Chocolate Box,’ but the situation at that time was not favorable.”

Yang Yoseob prepared a setlist of 20 songs for ‘BITTER SWEET.’ Since HIGHLIGHT’s fan-con tour last year, Yang Yoseob has been preparing for his solo concert.

He revealed, “I am very happy now, but sometimes I have thoughts of not wanting to go back. I want to give you not a request but a plea. I prepared a lot in May, even though I had a cold. I hope you all don’t get sick and stay happy with HIGHLIGHT for a long time.”

At the end of the concert, Yang Yoseob said, “I think the concert is the time when I can be most honest with all of you. While waiting for this moment to meet you, there were really tough times. In May, I fought various colds and two weeks ago, I got COVID.” He belatedly announced his COVID-19 diagnosis.

However, Yang Yoseob explained why he hid the news of his COVID-19 diagnosis, “I didn’t want to burden you all with the pressure that I have. So, I kept it well hidden.

As a result, there were changes to the setlist. Yang Yoseob confessed, “I think there are songs that you all want to hear. Since I am not in the best condition, I made the setlist based on the thought of doing my best and what I want to do.”

Yang Yoseob’s solo concert ‘BITTER SWEET’ is also being held on June 11th at Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
