In the summer of 2023, KBS’ popular music program Immortal Songs announced a special live concert in the United States. Originally scheduled at MetLife Stadium in New York, the event promised a star-studded line-up including ATEEZ, NewJeans, and PSY.

However, what was intended as a landmark K-Pop showcase quickly spiraled into what many have since called the “worst K-Pop concert ever.” The first signs of trouble appeared with underwhelming ticket sales, forcing organizers to move the venue. The change also meant that NewJeans would no longer perform, leaving fans frustrated by the need to swap tickets and adjust to a new schedule.

Despite fears of further cancellations, the rest of the artists delivered on their commitment. Still, problems persisted. Attendees reported that the soundcheck—a benefit for VIP ticket holders—was drastically shortened, with ATEEZ only able to rehearse one song instead of the usual three to four.

Technical issues plagued the concert itself. Fans noted screen projection malfunctions, sound disruptions, and stage setup inconsistencies. Timing was another major complaint: while the concert was supposed to conclude by 11 p.m., ATEEZ had not finished their set, and PSY did not take the stage until around 11:40 p.m.

Another point of contention was the VIP “send-off” perk. Traditionally held in a smaller, controlled space for close interactions, the Immortal Songs send-off occurred on the main stage, resulting in overcrowding and safety concerns as fans rushed forward. Organizers reportedly had intended a separate room, but time constraints made it impossible.

Despite the logistical and technical setbacks, fans praised the artists for their performances. Many, however, have expressed reluctance to attend future events promoted by Studio PAV, citing the chaotic execution of this concert.

The Immortal Songs U.S. concert serves as a cautionary tale of how even high-profile K-Pop events can face unexpected challenges when planning, logistics, and communication fall short.
