According to USA Today, Pauline Potter’s son, Dillon Brooks, confirmed the news of her passing in a YouTube video. Potter died in late November after battling health complications stemming from a severe car accident nearly a year prior.
She was hospitalized in late August and later transferred to a rehabilitation facility in hopes of stabilizing her condition for surgery. However, during her hospital stay, doctors discovered signs of heart and respiratory failure. After medical experts concluded that her condition was beyond recovery, Potter was taken home by her family to spend her final days in comfort.

Dillon set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover cremation expenses, with details of a memorial service to be shared later.
In 2011, Potter made headlines when she was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the heaviest living woman, weighing 643 pounds (approximately 390 kg). Through her appearance on My 600-Lb. Life, she managed to lose 149 pounds (67 kg) in a year. By 2022, she proudly announced that her weight had dropped to 223 pounds (102 kg).

In a heartfelt Instagram post from January 2022, she wrote: “It’s been a while since I’ve posted. But I’m proud to say I’m now down to 223 pounds. It feels amazing not having to rely on others just to do the smallest things anymore.”
