WINNER’s youngest member Kang Seung Yoon enlists in the military today (June 20th)

Kang Seung Yoon (29 years old), the youngest member and leader of the group WINNER, has officially joined the army.

According to YG Entertainment on June 20th, Kang Seung Yoon will enter the training center and begin receiving basic military training starting today.

The agency revealed that Kang Seung Yoon will quietly enlist without holding any separate events. The location and time of his enlistment are also not disclosed.

Prior to his enlistment, Kang Seung Yoon hosted a live broadcast through the fan community platform Weverse on June 19th and communicated with fans around the world.

Delivering his farewell, the WINNER member said, “I will protect the country and stay as healthy as possible”, adding “I will return as a great man of South Korea”.

During the livestream, Kang Seung Yoon also showed his short haircut and received praise from fans for his perfect visual even with the ‘chestnut’ hair.

Kang Seung Yoon is the last member of WINNER to enlist, following Kim Jin Woo, Lee Seung Hoon and Song Mino. In particular, Kim Jin Woo and Lee Seung Hoon have already been discharged after fulfilling military service as social service workers, while Song Mino is still serving in the military.

Meanwhile, Kang Seung Yoon competed on Mnet’s “Superstar K Season 2” then debuted as a member of WINNER under YG Entertainment in 2014. He has also been active as an actor after starring in MBC TV’s 2011 drama “High Kick! The Revenge of the Short Legged”.
