Winners for Baeksang’s Popular Award confirmed, 2 days before the award ceremony
The results of the Popular Award of the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards, which are just two days aways, have been determined.
From April 18th to April 26th, the global short-form video platform TikTok conducted voting for the Baeksang Arts Awards “TikTok Popular Award”.
As of 4 pm (KST) on April 26th, when the voting ended, GOT7 member and actor Park Jin Young won 1st place in the “Male Popular Award”, whilst singer and actress IU took 1st place in the “Female Popular Award”.
In particular, Park Jin Young and IU surpassed strong competitors by receiving about 242,690 votes and 718,350 votes, respectively, making them the winners of the Baeksang’s Popular Award.
On the other hand, this “Popular Award” voting included 34 male and 31 female candidates from both TV and movie categories.
Actors Kang Ki Young, Ryu Jun Yeol, Son Seok Gu, Im Si Wan were included among the male candidates, and female candidates included actresses Kim Hye Soo, Lim Ji Yeon, and Go Yoon Jung, among others.
Park Jin Young and IU earned the highest number of votes with fervent support from their fans, proving their immense popularity.
In 2022, Park Jin Young participated in the TVING drama “Yumi’s Cells Season 2” and the movies “Yaksha: Ruthless Operations” and “A Christmas Carol”. Meanwhile, IU was recognized for her acting in the movie “Broker”.
Both are also nominated for Best New Actor and Best New Actress in the movie category.
Meanwhile, the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards will be held at Paradise City in Incheon from 5:30 pm (KST) on April 28th. The awards ceremony will be simultaneously broadcasted on JTBC, JTBC2, JTBC4, and globally live-streamed on TikTok.
