Will BLACKPINK be able to renew contract with YG? Netizens are buzzing about the possibility of BLACKPINK continuing working as a group

Netizens are paying keen attention to the contract renewal between BLACKPINK and YG.

On February 14th, discussions were buzzing on “FM Korea” and “Theqoo” about the post titled “It is virtually impossible for BLACKPINK to renew their contract with YG.”

The author of the post said, “If there is no contract renewal, the world tour will be the last group activity,” and explained, “According to the report, there were many opinions on the failure to renew the contract.”

In fact, various media and entertainment industries have reported on the concerns that BLACKPINK might not be able to renew their contract.

Earlier, YG Entertainment debuted BLACKPINK in 2016 when their senior girl group 2NE1 renewed their contract. When BLACKPINK debuted on August 8th of that year,  2NE1’s group activities came to a sudden end on November 25th of the same year.

Fans are afraid that history might repeat itself now that YG is planning to debut a new girl group Baby Monster this year. Yang Hyun Suk is also the executive producer.

Some fans reasoned, because the average age in the idol market is getting younger and younger, as well as the BLACKPINK members have proved their individual capacities, the four of them will be just fine even without a group activity.

In response to the information, netizens said, “They really shut the door and shut it down.. .?,” “It takes YG way too long in the period between albums…” and “Each member has enough individual charm, it seems that they will do well in any circumstances.”

Nonetheless, many fans still believed it would be better for BLACKPINK to renew the contract and work as a team.
