On September 30, TV Chosun’s program Our Baby Was Born Again featured a couple in which the husband had undergone a vasectomy 14 years ago and was diagnosed with azoospermia, yet the wife is now pregnant with their fourth child after 18 years.
In an interview, the husband explained, “It’s been 18 years since we had our last child, and now my wife is pregnant again. I had a vasectomy 14 years ago, but when we checked at the hospital, they told us everything was fine.”
The extraordinary case felt like a scene from a drama. Park Soo-hong and Kim Chan-woo, who visited the wife while the husband was at work, admitted they were shocked and unsure how to handle the interview.
The wife confessed, “Both of us were startled and confused. We couldn’t believe something like this could happen. Even after tests confirmed azoospermia, I got pregnant. Usually, they say if it happens soon after surgery it’s possible, but it’s been many years since then.”
The couple already has three grown children: a 21-year-old daughter and 19-year-old twin sons. The current pregnancy marks the arrival of their unexpected fourth child nearly two decades later.
During the visit, Park Soo-hong jokingly asked, “Really?” while giving the wife a suspicious look, prompting Kim Chan-woo to intervene. Park quickly apologized, saying, “I’m sorry. I’m not usually the type to interfere in family matters,” which brought laughter to the scene.
