The new direction of BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa, is sparking much debate

Korean media recently reported that only BLACKPINK Rosé would be renewing her contract with YG.

Meanwhile, Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa are expected to leave the company and move to a new ones while continuing to promote as BLACKPINK for six months out of the year. These three are in the final stages of discussions.

Immediately, YG Entertainment, responded, stating that contract negotiations are still ongoing: “Nothing related to the contract renewal of BLACKPINK has been confirmed.”

This news has shaken the entertainment industry and even affected YG stock prices.

YG stock price plummeted, dropping more than 13%. Data from the Korean Exchange on September 21st shows that YG Entertainment’s stock price fell to 69,200 KRW (51.59 USD) per share, a significant decline of 13.28% compared to the previous day when it was 79,800 KRW (59.50 USD) per share.

For about eight months, numerous rumors indicated that YG was struggling with BLACKPINK’s contract renewal. While the company denied all baseless rumors, it still left fans concerned about BLACKPINK’s future activities.

Alongside many fans hoping BLACKPINK will continue to promote under YG, there are also those who anticipate Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa embarking on new journeys with different companies following this news.

Currently, on various online communities and social media platforms, discussions are buzzing about “Which company suits BLACKPINK members best if they decide to leave YG?” and “Which company will Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa sign with?”.

Some opinions suggest that HYBE might be a good fit for Jennie, Jisoo may sign with SM, and Lisa could sign with an international company like Universal Music Group.

There is information that both Jisoo and Lisa have already accepted exclusive contract offers worth tens of billions of won from new companies. The potential of both members is attracting attention from foreign investors.

However, the Korean media has not mentioned Jennie’s direction. Currently, Jennie has mentioned that she is working on a solo project that is “distinctly Jennie, and only Jennie can do.”
