Composer Kim Do Hoon has revealed a heartbreaking story about the late singer Wheesung ahead of an emotional tribute on KBS2’s Immortal Songs. The June 6 episode features the second part of a special dedicated to Kim Do Hoon’s musical career. K.Will, returning to the program after eight years, performs Wheesung’s “I’m Missing You” at Kim’s personal request.
Kim explained that he had previously been invited to appear on Immortal Songs, but declined because Wheesung was going through a difficult period. “A few years ago, when I received an offer from the program, Wheesung was very unwell,” he said. “I could not appear on Immortal Songs without him, so I said I would join once he got better.”

He added that Wheesung was impossible to leave out when discussing his life in music. “The people I shared the most musical conversations with were Wheesung and K.Will,” Kim said. “That is why I wanted K.Will to sing Wheesung’s song.” K.Will also reflected on his memories of the late singer. “Wheesung was a friend connected to many happy memories and also many regrets,” he said.

K.Will recalled that he often imitated Wheesung’s singing style early in his career, which helped him appear on variety programs and become more widely recognized. He continued: “Wheesung influenced not only me, but many singers. I hope his songs continue to be performed more often.”
The performance is expected to become one of the most emotional moments of the episode, honoring both Wheesung’s musical legacy and his close relationship with Kim Do Hoon and K.Will. Immortal Songs airs every Saturday at 6:05 p.m. KST.
