“What’s the color of your underwear?” Male idol group under fire for sexually harassing fans

A male idol group under a famous talent agency is facing controversy due to offensive remarks directed at their fans.

According to Japanese media CyzoWoman, members of 7 Men Samurai, a group under Johnny’s Jr., have come under fire for making sexually harassing and offensive comments towards their fans.

These controversial remarks were made during the concert “Summer Paradise 2023”, which was held by Johnny’s Jrs, from July 23rd to August 8th, the media outlet reported.

Particularly, on the afternoon of the 29th, members Sasaki Taiko and Konno Taiki stayed on stage as others left to change their clothes.

Here, Sasaki asked fans if they had boyfriends, and when a fan said they did, Sasaki made inappropriate comments like “Is that okay?” and “Do you have sexual desires?“. Afterward, Konno jokingly said, “You don’t think we are dating you, right?”, whilst Sasaki singled out fans who claimed that they can’t date because of 7 Men Samurai or they want a boyfriend but can’t get one.

According to another member, Motodaka Katsuki, who came on stage after changing clothes, the staff backstage sighed and asked the members to restrain themselves.

Sasaki and Konno then went to change their clothes and returned to stage, where they  apologized for “inappropriate remarks”. However, Konno once again sexually harassed fans by asking, “What’s the color of your underwear?”, and Sasaki apologized immediately after.

Against the sexual harassing remarks, attending fans showed a cold response. Some also expressed discomfort by saying, “Those remarks were inappropriate,” “Asking about underwear color is sexual harassment,” and “It’s a big mistake to assume fans will understand.”

On the same night’s performance, members of 7 Men Samurai received a phone call from the staff and bowed their heads once again in apology.

On the other hand, Johnny’s Jr. is a part of Johnny & Associates, which is a top-tier talent agency in Japan.
