What you may not know about actor Choi Hyun Jin, who plays Park Eun Bin’s younger brother in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”

In addition to the regular cast members, each episode of ENA’s “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” makes different actors shine, such as Moon Sang Hoon in episode 3 “This is Pengsoo”, Kim Hee Ra in episode 6 “If I Were A Whale”. In the two last episodes, an important person appeared. It was Choi Hyun Jin in the role of Choi Sang Hyun, the younger brother of Woo Young Woo (Park Eun Bin).

Choi Sang Hyun hacked a large online shopping mall in episodes 15-16 and leaked customer personal information. It turned out that he was the son of Tae Soo Mi (Jin Kyung) and Woo Young Woo’s younger brother. Viewers were surprised to see that he also likes kimbap like Woo Young Woo and has a special habit of eating them in line. The scene where he went to Woo Young Woo and asked for her help was also an unexpected development of the drama.

Choi Sang Hyun is a character that was in the script from the beginning. Choi Hyun Jin auditioned three weeks before filming started and was cast as Choi Sang Hyun. By the time “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” aired about 4-5 episodes, Choi Hyun Jin finished filming for his part. Only the scene of “The 16th Witness Attendance” was left behind. Because of this, Choi Hyun Jin could not tell anyone about his appearance in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” until episode 15 aired.

The existence of Choi Hyun Jin is a spoiler itself. Therefore, he was hiding himself for two months. According to his mother, when acquaintances who knew about Choi Hyun Jin’s audition asked which role he is playing and when he is coming out, she said, “It’s not a big deal. He will appear later.”

Choi Hyun Jin waited for about two months and was worried that his scenes would be edited out, but the response to his role was good.  After the final two episodes aired, some viewers commented that Choi Hyun Jin and Park Eun Bin look like real siblings. Choi Hyun Jin also practiced so he could resemble Woo Young Woo. He said that while watching the drama, he ate kimbap vertically and tried to imitate Woo Young Woo’s hand movements and pronunciation as closely as possible. He was focusing on how to look like Woo Young Woo’s real brother.

As many viewers may have noticed, Choi Hyun Jin is one of the three child actors who were praised for their acting and excellent understanding of characters in TVING’s web series “The King of Pigs”. In “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, although he appeared briefly, Choi Hyun Jin showed that he once again analyzed his character as deeply as he could. Choi Sang Hyun always touches the cube because his hands are anxious. Choi Hyun Jin learned the cube by concentrating on hand techniques in a short time, and he touched everything himself except for one scene in Woo Young Woo’s office.

Choi Hyun Jin made his acting debut in the 2021 movie “The Book of Fish”. He once said, “I don’t think of child roles as a one-time experience or a process to becoming an adult actor.”

If you got to know Choi Hyun Jin through “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, we recommend checking out his performance in “The King of Pigs”, where you will meet actor Choi Hyun Jin, not a “child actor”.
