What Chun Woo-hee said when receiving Best Leading Actress at 2014 Blue Dragon Film Awards

Born on April 20th, 1987 in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, Chun Woo-hee is an actress known for her vibrant and cheerful personality since her school days

She was actively involved in various school activities, serving as the class president and school president in elementary school and the vice school president in middle school. It was during her time in Icheon Yangjeong Girls’ High School that she joined the theater club and developed an interest in acting, which led her to major in acting when she entered Kyonggi University in 2006. She graduated from the university in August 2011.

She gained recognition with roles in “Love, So Divine” and “Mother”, but it was the 2011 film “Sunny” that really made her name. Her portrayal of the character Lee Sang-mi left a lasting impression on the audience.

Her impressive performance in “Sunny” earned her nominations for Best Supporting Actress at several awards ceremonies in 2011. Following this, she took on minor roles in various works and made a significant breakthrough in 2014 when she received the Best Leading Actress award at the 2014 Blue Dragon Film Awards for her role in “Han Gong-ju”.

Receiving the award, she said, “I can’t believe the award went to such a small film and to a not-so-famous actress like me.”

Despite being nominated alongside prominent actresses such as Kim Hee-ae, Son Ye-jin, Jeon Do-yeon and Shim Eun-kyung, Chun Woo-hee won the Best Leading Actress award for her role in an independent film. The public’s response was, “The right person received the award.”

Meanwhile, Chun Woo-hee was cast alongside actor Jang Ki-yong in JTBC’s drama “I’m Not a Hero”, which is scheduled to air in 2024.
