We Dem Boyz Vata stays silent despite being called out continuously in suspicions of copying ATEEZ’s choreography

“Street Man Fighter” Vata has been accused of copying ATEEZ’s “Say My Name” choreography. Despite criticism from the original choreographer, Vata has not released any position.

Vata, who is appearing in Mnet’s survival program “Street Man Fighter” as the leader of dance crew We Dem Boyz, won the Mission of creating choreography for Zico’s new song “New Thing”.

However, some Internet users raised suspicions of plagiarism, pointing out that one of the dances created by Vata, which is the slow movement of the feet like riding a motorbike, is similar to the choreography of ATEEZ’s song “Say My Name” released in 2019.

As the controversy broke out, “Say My Name” choreographer Anze Skrube shared an online video showing the similarity between “New Thing” moves created by Vata and ATEEZ’s Say My Name” choreography on his SNS on October 10th.

In the post that Anze Skrube shared on his story, the netizen who posted it said, “I thought Vata is a friend of San (an ATEEZ member). But friends shouldn’t do this. I hope you apologize to original choreographer Anze Skrube and ATEEZ for claiming the move as yours”.

ATEEZ members also indirectly insisted on the allegation of Vata plagiarising their choreography.

ATEEZ Wooyoung crossed his arms and shook them during “Say My Name” stage at a performance in Daegu on October 9th. Wooyoung’s action is known as a sign known among dancers to say that the choreography has been copied.

While ATEEZ and the choreographer of “Say My Name” continuously raised suspicions of choreography plagiarism, Vata and “Street Man Fighter” have not released any position so far. Considering the fact that Vata presented the controversial dance in the choreography-creating mission, calls for a clear explanation for the plagiarism issue are pouring out.
