Walt Disney, who is strict regarding their copyrights, said “BTS can use ours as much as they want”

Walt Disney Company, known to be very sensitive to copyright and trademark protection, responded in an unusual way to BTS. When BTS said they would use Disney movies for dubbing training, Disney released all copyrights, saying, “If it’s BTS, they can use it all.”

Voice actor Ahn Ji-hwan appeared as a guest on MBC’s entertainment program “Radio Star,” which aired yesterday (Mar 16th). He said on the show that currently he had 10 fixed programs, but he sometimes taught dubbing lessons too. He said “I recently became a one-day dubbing teacher for BTS”.

Ahn Ji-hwan told a story of that time, saying, “There was one thing I was proud of at the time.” He talked about how strict Walt Disney was in protecting its copyrights, and that there was even a joke that “When you want to escape from a deserted island, if you draw Mickey Mouse on the sandy beach, Disney will come and drag you away.”

In fact, in the episode of ‘Run BTS!’ aired last year, where BTS members practiced their voice acting skills with Ahn Ji-hwan by dubbing Disney movie ‘Zootopia‘, a subtitle that reads ‘This animation video was used after copyright permission was granted’ can be seen.

At that time, BTS members dubbed a scene of Nick and Judy from ‘Zootopia‘ under the guidance of Ahn Ji-hwan. After Ahn Ji-hwan saw the completed dubbing video later, he praised Jin‘s last line, “This is really perfect.”

Ahn Ji-hwan also said on ‘Radio Star‘, “Everyone does a good job, but when it comes to choosing a voice actor, Jin is the best. He took it really seriously.” In addition, Ahn Ji-hwan revealed he had not yet received a commemorative photo taken with BTS at the time. He then looked at the camera and said while laughing, “I hope you send it to me soon.”
