Viewers are happy when Lee Do Hyun did not proceed with “Bloodhounds”.
Lee Do Hyun is currently a famous name after two continuous successes, namely “The Glory” and “The Good Bad Mother”. At the time the actor was offered his role in “The Glory”, he was considering the offer to appear in “Bloodhounds”. With persuasion from “The Glory” writer, he turned down “Bloodhounds” to appear in the revenge drama. While “Bloodhounds” was clearly a success on Netflix, securing the No. 2 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 Global in the Non-English TV series category, the situation allowed Woo Do Hwan to make a major leap after his discharge. Moreover, Lee Do Hyun also found a more suitable role for himself.
In 2021, Lee Do Hyun and Kwak Dong Yeon turned down the offer to appear on “Bloodhounds” as the actors and the team of the drama could not reach an agreement. The offer was given to Woo Do Hwan, who was in the military at the time. Actor Woo accepted the project and joined the filming right away after his discharge. They started rolling in 2022 but the series only aired recently on Netflix.
Acting-wise, Lee Do Hyun and Woo Do Hwan are capable young actors. However, they boast different charms that make them more suitable for different roles. Lee Do Hyun has an approachable and bright look that makes him a perfect choice for dramas such as “The Good Bad Mother”. At the same time, Woo Do Hwan appears with an angular face and an aloof charm that allows him to fit better in “Bloodhounds”.
In the Netflix drama, Woo Do Hwan plays Kim Gun Woo, a prospective boxer who gives up a bright career ahead to help his mother pay back her loan. He works under Choi Tae Ho, a famous figure in the loan shark world who disappeared into thin air one day. When he returns, Tae Ho suddenly gives the poor loan with no interest.
Woo Do Hwan shows a leap in acting skills with Kim Gun Woo. While the script is not all too perfect, the actor controls the scene and depicts his character flawlessly. Do Hwan was able to convey both the complex psychology of his character as well as carry out the heavy fighting scenes. Viewers are glad when Do Hwan was chosen for the role and found a new spotlight.
