A misunderstanding occurred in Ulsan when a cafeteria worker at a local elementary school approached a student walking home alone, prompting a report of attempted abduction.

According to the Ulsan Bukbu Police Department, a parent called authorities on the morning of September 25, claiming that a woman had tried to lure her child near a school in Buk-gu around 10:09 a.m.

The parent alleged that the previous day, while walking home from school, her second-grade son was approached by a woman who asked questions such as, “Where do you live?” and “Shall we go together?”

The child ran home and informed his mother, who then reported the incident to the police.

After investigation, authorities confirmed that the woman was a cafeteria employee at the school, and she had approached the child out of concern for his safety while walking home alone.

A police spokesperson commented, “Concerns over child abduction have increased public anxiety, leading to more reports. It can be difficult to distinguish between misunderstandings and actual crimes, so we urge people to immediately notify police if they notice any suspicious situations.”

This incident underscores the delicate balance between child safety vigilance and misunderstandings in public spaces.
