On February 26th, Olena posted on her SNS account, “I have something to say”, adding, “Korean news made such a ridiculous video, aren’t you ashamed? I know the presidential election is coming soon, but I don’t think driving public opinion against another country in this way is the right thing to do. If you reveal the picture you want to show and tell just some parts of the fact, it’s like you are trying to push the message, ‘Let’s choose the correct one in the election, so our country won’t become like Ukraine’. Is this what the media should do?”

The model then expressed her disappointment for MBC’s action, saying, “What? The Ukrainian president is not coping with the crisis properly? Does any media company know how to deal with the crisis properly? Why don’t you tell us if you know how to protect our freedom? Are you criticizing Zelenskyy’s political moves as ‘amateur’? Who are you criticizing?”

In particular, she said angrily, “Does the media know what Zelenskyy has done for Ukraine since 2019 until now? The media’s behavior in 2022 is taking a stance as if it would appear in the news of dictatorship in the 1980s. Do you think 72% of Ukrainian people who voted for Zelenskyy are idiots? If you watch these videos from arrogant media outlets, you might think so.”

On Feb 25th, a video titled “Ukrainian President… Leadership in Crisis” was uploaded on MBC’s official YouTube channel “Mbig News“. “Mbig News” analyzed the current situation in which Russia invaded Ukraine as well as described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a former actor and comedian, as an “amateur-like politician“.

Regarding this, Olena from Ukraine publicly expressed her displeasure, which is expected to increase the impact.

Meanwhile, Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb 24th. As of the second day, the pressure level is increasing around the capital Kiev. Ukraine is resisting Russia’s occupation attempts by issuing a national mobilization order.
