Actress Uhm Hyun-kyung is set to return to the small screen as the female lead of KBS 1TV’s upcoming daily drama Our Joyful Wonderful Day, bringing cheerful news to fans following her recent journey into motherhood. According to reports on December 29, Uhm Hyun-kyung has been officially cast in the new series, which is scheduled to air next year.
Our Joyful Wonderful Day will be directed by Lee Jae-sang, the producer behind the highly successful KBS 2TV daily drama Once Again, raising expectations for another warm and relatable family-centered story. With this project, Uhm Hyun-kyung marks her return to television two years after her last appearance in MBC’s The Brave Yong Su-jeong, which aired in 2024.
Notably, Uhm Hyun-kyung filmed The Brave Yong Su-jeong just six months after giving birth, shortly after marrying fellow actor Cha Seo-won. Her casting in Our Joyful Wonderful Day signals a renewed phase of active acting projects as she balances career and family life.
Uhm Hyun-kyung made her debut in 2005 through MBC’s sitcom Rainbow Romance and has since built a solid career through a wide range of dramas, including The King’s Doctor, Good Doctor, Mother’s Garden, The Greatest Marriage, House of Bluebird, All is Well, Innocent Defendant, Miss Lee, Man in a Veil, and The Second Husband. Her performance in The Second Husband, which concluded in 2022, earned her the Top Excellence Award (Actress in a Daily Drama) at the MBC Drama Awards.
In June 2023, Uhm Hyun-kyung drew public attention when she simultaneously announced her marriage plans and pregnancy with actor Cha Seo-won, whom she had worked with previously on Miss Lee and The Second Husband. The couple welcomed their son in October of the same year, receiving warm congratulations from fans and colleagues alike.
Adding to the couple’s joyful news, Cha Seo-won is also preparing for a career milestone. He is set to star in tvN’s upcoming Monday–Tuesday drama Spring Fever, premiering on January 5, 2026, marking his first foray into the romantic comedy genre since his debut.
