Residents of Guangxi, China, were left shocked by a heartbreaking scene during the onslaught of Typhoon Ragasa. A hunting dog, chained beside a tent for safety, was violently lifted by powerful winds along with the tent and carried nearly 40 meters away, where it was later found lifeless, suspended on electrical wires.

According to reports from CTWANT and CCTV, the dog’s owner explained that he had chained the pet near the tent out of fear it might run loose in the chaos. However, the typhoon’s fierce winds overpowered the restraint, lifting both the tent and the 10-kilogram dog into the air before the tragic outcome. The dog, which the owner had raised for over three years after purchasing it for 28,000 yuan (around $3,800), had been trained to hunt wild boars and snakes. Its sudden death left the family devastated.

The incident, once shared online, quickly went viral and sparked heated debate. Some netizens expressed shock at the sheer force of Typhoon Ragasa, while others criticized the owner for not sheltering the dog indoors during such dangerous weather. A few defended the practice, saying some owners keep dogs tied outdoors due to fears they might ingest rodent poison or pesticides left in the fields.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Ragasa left widespread destruction across Guangxi. Flooded fields, fallen trees, and damaged power lines caused large-scale outages. By the evening of September 25, power companies had mobilized 2,232 staff, 786 vehicles, 30 power trucks, and 154 generators to restore electricity to affected regions as quickly as possible.
